Education

We firmly believe that teaching the art of flow cytometry informatics (defined as the algorithmic processing of list-mode data, usually in the form of large collections of files), is the best way to advance the state of this art.

Flow cytometry informatics is about making computers ‘understand’ the structure and shape of our data, so that the computers can then comprehensively mine these data for cytomic patterns that may be related to underlying biology, disease or condition. We have learned through long experience that information contained in the list-mode representation is extremely information-rich, but very cumbersome to handle from a datemining perspective. We’ve developed methods of transforming collections of list-mode data into a format that is more amenable to the application of novel or mature machine learning, empirical modeling or deep learning approaches.

We believe in the adage “a rising tide lifts all boats” – we’re sailors, after all ;>). We would love nothing better than to teach you, our clients, everything that we know. Far from putting us out of business, we believe that this will expand and enrich the field of flow cytometry informatics, create a vibrant community of developers and knowledgeable users, and bring amplified creativity into our community. Having taught you, we look forward to learning from you! Please drop us a note in the “Contact Us” tab at the top of the page to start our conversation!
